BOLD LeadHERS is an inspiring show on the Michigan Business Network hosted by dynamic leaders Lorri Rishar and Becky Burka. BOLD — short for Breaking Barriers, Owning Your Path, Leading with Confidence, and Delivering Results — dives deep into all things leadership.
A 35-year veteran in marketing and communications, Lorri is recognized as one of Michigan’s top marketing professionals. She began her career as a community journalist and later served in key leadership roles at the Michigan House of Representatives, including Communications Director and Chief of Staff to the Speaker.
From 2001 to 2007, Lorri led marketing and community relations for Sparrow Health System. In 2007, she co-founded Edge Partnerships, a full-service marketing and PR agency.
Lorri holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Millersville University and an MBA from Northwood University. She’s received numerous honors, including the PRSA Pacemaker of the Year, Small Business Advocate of the Year, and the Athena Award for Organizational Excellence. Under her leadership, Edge has earned national recognition, including placement on Inc. magazine’s 500/5000 list.
Becky Burtka is Vice President of Strategic Communications and Public Affairs at Business Leaders For Michigan, where she helps advance the organization’s mission of making Michigan a Top 10 state for jobs, talent and economic growth.
Previously, Becky served as Vice President of Member Engagement at the Michigan Chamber, leading signature events, educational programs, member communications and advocacy efforts. She also spent more than a decade in leadership roles within the Michigan Legislature, helping shape state budgets, legislative priorities and policies impacting Michigan businesses and families.
Becky also served as Director of External and Legislative Affairs for AT&T Michigan, where she helped advance key legislation and strengthen relationships with local leaders.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Oakland University and is the recipient of the 2018 Legislative Leadership Award.
